Bond-Rite® CLAMP
Newson Gale's self-testing clamps with visual indication and monitoring
The Bond-Rite® monitors the resistance between the clamp teeth back to the ground bar to 10 ohms or less and cannot be adjusted by operators.
DOES NOT require calibration at installation or throughout its lifecycle.
The Bond-Rite® CLAMP is powered by an intrinsically safe 9V lithium-manganese battery. The typical battery lifetime is 6 months if used for 6 hours per day. The HAZLOC certificate of the Bond-Rite® CLAMP permits changing of the battery in the hazardous location if required.**
**In order to maintain the HAZLOC certificate it is essential that the battery is replaced with the intrinsically safe model specified in the Instruction Manual supplied with the Bond-Rite® CLAMP. Always refer to your country’s HAZLOC certificate requirements.

Overview of the Bond-Rite® CLAMP
The Bond-Rite® CLAMP contains a bright green LED that flashes continuously when it detects the resistance between the equipment to be grounded and the site’s verified ground is 10 ohms or less. The Bond-Rite® CLAMP continuously monitors the resistance of the circuit between the equipment and the verified ground point (e.g., wall-mounted ground bar). The flashing green LED provides process operators with a continuous visual reference point that enables them to monitor the ground status of conductive metal equipment capable of accumulating static electricity. The Bond-Rite® CLAMP is an ideal solution for applications and installations where interlocks with the process are not possible or required.
The primary benefits of a Bond-Rite® CLAMP
- The Bond-Rite® CLAMP continuously monitors the electrical resistance between the object to be grounded and the plant’s verified ground point. The resistance threshold of 10 ohms or less is adopted to align with international guidance documents relating to static electricity i.e. NFPA 77 2024ed 10.1.1., and IEC TS 60079-32-1 (and PD CLC/TR 60079-32-1).
- Operators are provided with a simple “GO/NO-GO” method of indication via a highly visible flashing green LED mounted on the lid surface of the Bond-Rite® CLAMP. The operators do not need to be trained to use HAZLOC multi-meters which can be complex and costly.
- A GRP junction box with integrated stowage point is provided, featuring flying leads for connection to the ground bar and a Quick Connect for connection to the clamp monitoring cable.
- Routine electrical resistance checks of non-monitored basic clamp, cable and reel connections by maintenance engineers is not required. The Bond-Rite® checks the condition of the ground circuit on a continuous basis when in use.
- The Bond-Rite® resistance threshold is set at 10 ohms or less and cannot be adjusted by operators.
- The Bond-Rite® is designed to be easy to understand and use.
- The Bond-Rite® does not require calibration.
- The HAZLOC certification permits the use of the Bond-Rite® CLAMP in the highest hazardous location (Class I, II and III Division 1 & 2) due to its intrinsically safe HAZLOC Ex ia monitoring circuit.
- The monitoring circuit and LED indicator are housed in a stainless steel clamp body that consists of a high strength torsion spring and a pair of tungsten carbide teeth designed to bite through layers of deposits like rust, paints and product deposits that could impede the transfer of electrostatic charges.
The Bond-Rite® CLAMP operates an intrinsically safe monitoring circuit between an object* that requires static grounding and a verified ground point. It is powered by an intrinsically safe 9V lithium-manganese battery, which eliminates the need to power the unit via the plant’s own power supply, providing increased flexibility for location installation. The monitoring circuit and IS battery are mounted inside a rugged IP64 stainless steel clamp body. The battery operates for an average of 6 hours per day over a 6-month period. The battery can be replaced** in the hazardous location.
*Object = any metal process equipment that could be at risk of electrostatic charge accumulation (e.g., metal drums, EX IBCs, tanker trucks/tank trucks, buckets, cans, etc.).
**In order to maintain the HAZLOC certificate, it is essential that the battery is replaced with the model specified in the Instruction Manual supplied with the Bond-Rite® CLAMP. Always refer to your country’s HAZLOC certificate requirement.
