Bond-Rite® EZ
Newson Gale's portable static bonding solution with visual indication
Utilizes a heavy-duty stainless-steel clamp, that combines sharp tungsten carbide teeth with a strong torsion spring to establish, and maintain, a positive connection to the metal object (e.g., drum) for the duration of the loading/unloading operation.
Grounding clamps with global certification that DO NOT contain any insulating materials (rubber handles/plastic) that exceed the volume or surface area for hazardous locations.
The Bond-Rite® CLAMP is powered by an intrinsically safe 9V lithium-manganese battery. The typical battery lifetime is 6 months if used for 6 hours per day. The HAZLOC certificate of the Bond-Rite® CLAMP permits changing of the battery in the hazardous location if required.**
**In order to maintain the HAZLOC certificate it is essential that the battery is replaced with the intrinsically safe model specified in the Instruction Manual supplied with the Bond-Rite® CLAMP. Always refer to your country’s HAZLOC certificate requirements.
Operators are provided with a simple “GO/NO-GO” indication via a highly visible flashing green LED mounted on the lid of the Bond-Rite® CLAMP.
The operators do not need to be trained to use HAZLOC multi-meters which can be complex and costly.
The Bond-Rite® monitors the resistance between the two objects through the clamp teeth and cable to 10 ohms or less and cannot be adjusted by operators.
DOES NOT require calibration at installation or throughout its lifecycle.

Overview of the Bond-Rite® EZ
Complementing the level of flexibility offered by the Bond-Rite® range is the Bond-Rite® EZ. This option is extremely useful for processes/operations located in positions where fixed installations of static grounding equipment are not possible or desired by hazardous location (HAZLOC) operators.
The primary application is to provide equipotential bonding of equipment* used in process operations that involve the transfer of flammable materials from one location to another. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Transferring materials between drums or Ex IBCs.
- Transferring materials from tanker trucks/tank trucks into smaller containers like drums and Ex IBCs.
- Manual pouring of flammables between containers.
- HAZMAT spill recovery operations.
*Equipment = any metal process equipment that could be at risk of electrostatic charge accumulation (e.g., metal drums, Ex IBCs, tanker trucks/tank trucks, buckets, cans, etc.).
Primary benefits of the Bond-Rite® EZ
- The primary benefits of the Bond-Rite® EZ are:
- The Bond-Rite® EZ continuously monitors the electrical resistance between the objects that require equipotential bonding. The resistance threshold of 10 ohms or less is adopted to align with NFPA 77 2024ed 10.1.1., and IEC TS 60079-32-1 (and PD CLC/TR 60079-32-1).
- Operators are provided with a simple “GO/NO-GO” method of indication via a highly visible flashing green LED mounted on the lid surface of the Bond-Rite®.
- The operators do not need to be trained to use HAZLOC multi-meters which can be complex and costly.
- Periodic electrical resistance checks of non-monitored basic bonding clamp and cables by maintenance engineers is not required. The Bond-Rite® EZ checks the condition of the bonding circuit on a continuous basis when in use.
- The Bond-Rite® EZ resistance threshold is set at 10 ohms or less and cannot be adjusted by operators.
- The Bond-Rite® EZ is designed to be easy to operate.
- The Bond-Rite® EZ does not require calibration.
- The HAZLOC certification permits use of the Bond-Rite® EZ in the highest hazardous locations (Class I, II, and III Division 1 & 2) due to its intrinsically safe Ex ia monitoring circuit.
- The monitoring circuit and LED indicator are housed in a stainless steel clamp body that consists of a high strength torsion spring and a pair of tungsten carbide teeth designed to bite through layers of deposits like rust, paints and product deposits that could impede the transfer of electrostatic charges.
Additional product flexibility of the Bond-Rite® EZ
An additional level of flexibility is that it is certified for use in Class I, II, and III Division 1 and 2 hazardous locations, avoiding any doubt as to the positioning of the unit in close proximity to potentially flammable gases/vapors or combustible dust atmospheres. Refer to the technical specification below for specific HAZLOC classification details.
The Bond-Rite® EZ consists of a single Bond-Rite® CLAMP connected to a heavy-duty 2-pole grounding clamp with Cen-Stat™ 2-core spiral or straight cable.
- The 2-core clamps that can be used are:
- Large or medium -sized heavy-duty clamps
- A magnetic clamp
Monitoring circuit
The Bond-Rite® EZ monitoring circuit is powered by an intrinsically safe 9V lithium-manganese battery. The typical battery lifetime is 6 months if used for 6 hours per day. The HAZLOC certificate of the Bond-Rite® CLAMP used with the EZ permits changing of the battery in the hazardous location if required.**
**In order to maintain the HAZLOC certificate, it is essential that the battery is replaced with the intrinsically safe model specified in the Instruction Manual supplied with the Bond-Rite® CLAMP. Always refer to your country’s HAZLOC certificate requirements.
